Rose Ndagire is in primary four at Busagazi Community Primary School. She has three sisters and six brothers and lives with both of her parents, Paul Kafeero and Christine Timugibwa, in a village called Busiri, Buikwe district in Uganda.
The family cultivates food crops on a very small piece of land, which fails to produce enough to meet their needs. During droughts, they experience severe famine, leading to significant hardship. Their house is very small, with a dusty floor, inadequate windows and doors, and a shortage of space whereby three of the children share a single small mattress.
Rose and her siblings walk about four miles to school each day and then four miles back home. This long journey makes it difficult for them to arrive at school on time, especially since they must help their mother with housework in the morning. When it rains, they are unable to walk to school at all.
Rose loves attending school and has a passion for netball, but her parents cannot afford the school fees. Despite these challenges, she remains dedicated to her education.
At KINGSTONE UGANDA PROJECT, we believe all children deserve an equal chance to thrive. Your sponsorship can ensure a child has enough to eat, an education, and hope for the future. As a sponsor, you'll develop a special relationship with your sponsored child, receiving digital photos, handwritten messages, regular updates, and a monthly 1-5 minute WhatsApp video call.
You can choose a child to sponsor or let our team in Uganda select one in greatest need. It takes only a few minutes to become a sponsor, and you could change a child's life forever. Sponsorship costs just £15 a month, covering food, water, education, and healthcare for a child who walks to school from home.
