Musa loves football and lives with both of his parents in Kigwere Village. His mother, Lydia Mirembe, suffers from severe diabetes and is unable to work, and she does not receive the necessary treatment due to the family's poverty. His father, Kharim Higenyi, is a fisherman but does not own a fishing net. To survive, he participates in illegal fishing, catching young fish that are below the government-recommended size.
Frequently, the police hunt down these fishermen, arresting and detaining them for extended periods until their colleagues can pay a bribe to secure their release. This is the harsh reality the family faces. Their children often lack the essentials they need and are frequently in tears when their father is arrested and beaten by the Lake Victoria marine police. When he eventually returns home, he bears the bruises of his ordeal.
At KINGSTONE UGANDA PROJECT, we believe all children deserve an equal chance to thrive. Your sponsorship can ensure a child has enough to eat, an education, and hope for the future. As a sponsor, you'll develop a special relationship with your sponsored child, receiving digital photos, handwritten messages, regular updates, and a monthly 1-5 minute WhatsApp video call.
You can choose a child to sponsor or let our team in Uganda select one in greatest need. It takes only a few minutes to become a sponsor, and you could change a child's life forever. Sponsorship costs just £15 a month, covering food, water, education, and healthcare for a child who walks to school from home.
For £25 a month, your sponsorship will also cover boarding school, which many Ugandan children attend due to distance. Boarding schools provide running water, good toilets, and shelter during heavy rains.
To learn more, please contact us through our website. We would be happy to talk with you, and you can even visit Uganda and our schools.
